About Us

Dr. Cynthia Aks is a board certified General Surgeon specializing in Diseases of the Breast. A practicing General Surgeon since 1990 she has been a dedicated Breast Specialist since 1997. She was born and raised in Kansas City area, received a Bachelors of Science in Nursing and practiced as a Critical Care nurse. Dr. Aks graduated from the University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine and moved to Detroit for her surgical training and to begin a dedicated career in Surgery.

Having worked in both Oakland and Macomb counties as a General Surgeon, she now focuses her efforts in Wayne county and Oakland counties, providing expert, personalized and compassionate professional care to patients with diseases of the breast. As an Osteopathic trained surgeon she focuses on treating the whole patient-their physical, psychological, and emotional needs. She understands the uniqueness of each patient and also how their illness affects family and friends.

Dr. Cynthia Aks has been actively involved in the community: lecturing, participating and sponsoring community events, cancer support groups, and programs. In addition to helping her local community, she has been a working member in International Medical Missionary projects.

Her professional affiliations include the American Society of Breast Surgeons, American Society of Breast Disease, National Consortium of Breast Centers, American Medical Association, American Osteopathic Association, Michigan State Medical Society, Michigan Osteopathic Association, Wayne County Medical and Wayne County Osteopathic Societies.

Dr. Aks is currently on staff at Dearborn Surgery Center and Oakwood Hospital and Medical Center in Dearborn, and was Medical Director of the Comprehensive Breast Center at St. Mary's Marion Women's Center in Livonia from 2005-2008.
