Did you know that there is a new treatment for benign fibroadenomas, the most common type of breast tumor, affecting millions of women? While they are not cancerous, fibroadenomas frequently cause pain and anxiety. Downriver Comprehensive Breast Center is pleased to announce that we now offer the Visica2 Treatment System, a breakthrough non-surgical, office-based treatment for these benign tumors.

Giving women an alternative to surgical removal, the minimally invasive procedure uses cryoablation, or extreme cold, to destroy tumors without requiring stitches or general anesthesia. The office-based procedure which usually takes less than 30 minutes, involves creating very cold temperatures to freeze the fibroadenoma, damaging the tumor cells and causing them to break down to prevent re-growth.
